Q: What is FauxReal Surfaces LLC’s product?
A: FauxReal Surfaces uses an extra-fine mineral aggregate and premixed cement, blended for maximum strength and durability. This powder is combined with a specially formulated emulsion system admix for use over a variety of substrates including; concrete slab, masonry, bricks, tile, laminate counters, glass, wood, and metal. The resulting mortar can be troweled or sprayed.

Q: Is there a warranty?
A: FauxReal Surfaces offers a 10-year limited material warranty against, delamination, dramatic fading, and general product failure. The warranty is extendable.

Q: How thick is the application?
A: When applied to existing concrete our surfaces are generally between 1/16” to 1/8”. Installations may be up to 3/8” to cover grout lines or imperfections in the substrate.

Q: How Durable is your product?
A: Though the material is thin it has a compressive strength of 7,000 p.s.i. as opposed to traditional concrete which is 2000 – 2500 p.s.i.. The surfaces are ideal for driveways, garages, as well as areas of commercial traffic. The sealed surface resists mold, mildew, as well as many chemicals, offering an easy to clean, low maintenance surface that will last a lifetime.

Q: What does it look like?
A: FauxReal Surfaces offers a variety of resurfacing options to meet your needs. Because the surface is hand applied we can create smooth or textured overlays. We offer FauxReal Stain, similar to acid staining, FauxReal Stone the most realistic simulated stone in the industry, as well as several simpler spray-on techniques. In short your FauxReal Surface can look like nearly anything you like.

Q: What colors does it come in?
A: At FauxReal Surfaces we understand that the color, above all, determines the final look and appeal of the surface. We offer a selection of standard and custom solid colors. For a moderate aditional cost, we also offer the most comprehensive custom color service in the industry, allowing for unlimited color options.

Q: How long does it take to do a job?
A: The duration of installation is determined by the size and complexity of the job. On average a sprayed application with a solid coloring will take 1 to 3 days. Hand-troweled FauxReal Stone will take on average 3 to 6 days. Custom coloring and weather can also have an effect on installation time. At FauxReal Surfaces our goal is to expedite a quality job that meets or exceeds the expectations our customer.

Q: How do you treat control or expansion joints?
A: All existing control joints must be honored, as they are necessary to allow the existing concrete to expand and contract. In most cases we can incorporate the expansion joints into the pattern.

Q: Does the pool have to be drained prior to installation?
A: No, the pool should be full up to the bottom of the tile, about 4 – 5 inches below the cantilever of pool edge. The filter should be shut off during the installation process so as not to be damaged by any overspray. Following installation FauxReal surfaces will remove any overspray and the filter can be turned back on.

Q: What effect will pool water, muriatic acid, chlorine, or bleach have on my surfaces?
A: FauxReal Surfaces uses only the best sealers available. Most chemicals have little or no effect on these durable solvent based sealers. You will find or system more than suitable for pool side installations.

Q: How does the color react to sunlight, does it fade?
A: No, not significantly. The sealers we use have superior UV protection proven in the harshest environments such as Arizona. This sealer along with our colorfast systems result in minimal fading not visibly notable.

Q: Can you correct imperfections in the concrete such as cracks and leveling?
A: Our system and product is ideal for repairing concrete with surface damage. We can improve te drainage and unevenness in most cases. Cracks are repaired using a two-part epoxy to re-bond the crack. W can repair cracks of all sizes, so long as the concrete is structurally sound. A FauxReal representative will be forthright about the condition and best method of repair for your surface.

Q: Will cracks reoccur?
A: FauxReal Surfaces uses the best materials and most advanced methods for crack repair including cutting tension joints at strategic locations. Cracks however, may reemerge as hairline cracks. Often times these hairline cracks are unnoticeable or actually add realism to the simulated stone surface. if for any reason the crack becomes unsightly repair of the crack is quite easy.

Q: Does your surface work over painted or previously coated surfaces.
A: Yes. Our material has unparalleled bonding abilities and will bond to almost any material. Additional prep may be needed for unstable or flaking coatings. Every effort is made to make sure our products bonds to the substrate. If there is any question of compatibility we will conduct a bond test.
